This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") explains how Accel AI Institute ("Accel AI," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit our websites, use the LXAI community platform, register for or attend our events, apply to our programs, or otherwise interact with us. Accel AI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (California Tax ID #82-2813494) and is the fiscal sponsor of the LatinX in AI (LXAI) program.Please read this Policy carefully. By using our websites, platform, or services, you acknowledge the practices described here. Where the law requires your consent for a specific activity (such as certain cookies or the collection of sensitive information), we will ask for it separately rather than rely on your use of our services.

1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

Accel AI Institute operates a portfolio of educational and community programs focused on broadening access and opportunity in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. This Policy covers personal information we handle when you:visit or use our websites, including accel.ai and latinxinai.org;create an account on, or use, the LXAI community platform at community.accel.ai (the "Platform"), including member profiles, the job board, and the CV Vault;register for, attend, sponsor, or volunteer at our events, workshops, and programs;submit a form (for example, a membership, mentorship, donation, or corporate sponsorship form), or contact us by email or phone;interact with us on social media or through third-party services that link to us.This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that we do not control, even if we link to them. Those third parties have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review them.Controller / contact. For purposes of the GDPR and similar laws, Accel AI Institute is the controller of the personal information described in this Policy. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@accel.ai.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you provide directly, information we collect automatically when you use our services, and information we receive from third parties.

2.1 Information you provide to us

Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:Account and profile information – name, email address, username and password, and the information you choose to add to your member profile, such as job title, employer, location, education, skills, professional interests, links to your social or professional profiles, and a profile photo.Resume / CV content – if you upload a resume or CV to the Platform or opt in to the CV Vault, the information contained in those documents (work history, education, contact details, and anything else you include).Career and recruiting activity – job applications and expressions of interest, application status, messages with employers or sponsors initiated through the Platform, and your privacy and visibility settings.Event and program information – registration details, dietary or accessibility needs you choose to share, and submissions related to mentorship, research, internships, grants, or volunteering.Sponsor and donor information – for corporate sponsors and donors, the contact and organizational details on the sponsorship or donation form, including the authorized representative's name, title, email, phone, and billing address.Payment information – when you donate, pay a registration or sponsorship fee, or buy from our store, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers ourselves; we may retain limited transaction records (such as amount, date, and a confirmation reference).Communications – the content of emails, messages, survey responses, and support requests you send us.Sensitive information – with your explicit, separate consent, demographic information such as race or ethnicity, gender identity, country of origin, or veteran/military status. See Section 4.

2.2 Information we collect automatically

When you use our websites or Platform, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 8):device and connection data, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and language settings;usage data, such as pages and listings viewed, links and buttons clicked, search queries, referring pages, and dates and times of access;approximate location derived from IP address (we do not collect precise geolocation unless you grant permission);log and diagnostic data used for security, debugging, and analytics.

2.3 Information from third parties

authentication providers, if you sign in using a third-party login;our payment processor, event tools, analytics providers, and other service providers;employers or sponsors who interact with you through the Platform;publicly available sources and partners, where permitted by law.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to operate and improve our services, support our nonprofit mission, and meet our legal obligations. Specifically, we use it to:create and manage your account, profile, and membership;operate the Platform, including the job board, applications, messaging, and (where you opt in) the CV Vault;register you for and run events, workshops, mentorship, research, and grant programs;process donations, sponsorships, and store purchases, and keep related financial records;communicate with you about your account, transactions, applications, and the programs you take part in;send you newsletters and updates about our programs and opportunities, where permitted (you can opt out at any time);provide candidate-facing tools such as visibility dashboards and AI-generated profile, resume, and skill-gap insights (see Section 6);understand and improve how our services are used, including aggregate analytics and product research;advance our diversity and inclusion mission, including aggregate, de-identified reporting on the communities we serve (see Section 4);protect the security and integrity of our services, investigate misuse, and prevent fraud and abuse;comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

3.1 Legal bases (for individuals in the EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

4. Sensitive and Demographic Information

Because our mission is to broaden access and opportunity for underrepresented communities in AI, we may invite you to share demographic information such as race or ethnicity, gender identity, country of origin, or veteran status. We handle this information with particular care:It is always optional, and we collect it only with your explicit opt-in consent.We use it to support program eligibility you ask to be considered for, to understand and serve our community, and to report on our impact in aggregate, de-identified form (for example, to funders).We do not use sensitive or demographic information for advertising, and we do not use it as an input to employer lead scoring or any commercial ranking. See Section 6.You can withdraw consent or remove this information from your profile at any time in your account settings or by contacting us.Under the CPRA and certain other U.S. state laws, this information may be "sensitive personal information." We limit our use of it to the purposes described above and to those uses permitted without a right to limit under applicable law.

5. The Job Board, CV Vault, and Sharing with Employers and Sponsors

The Platform connects community members with employers and sponsors. We have designed it so that your visibility is under your control, and we keep two settings strictly separate:

Public profile visibility ("is_public") controls whether your profile is discoverable on the public web. This is separate from the CV Vault.

CV Vault consent controls whether sponsors at a qualifying tier can access your profile, resume, and contact details after an event. The Vault is never open to the public web.

5.1 Job board and applications

When you apply to a role or express interest, we share the information needed to process that application with the relevant employer, and we may notify the employer of your interest. Some roles route you to an employer's external site; once there, the employer's own privacy policy governs your information.

5.2 CV Vault (opt-in)

The CV Vault is an opt-in feature. If — and only if — you consent, sponsors at the eligible sponsorship tier may, after an event, access the profile and resume information you have agreed to share. We enforce this through controls that:limit access to sponsors whose sponsorship is active and at the qualifying tier;scope access to the consent you have given;log each access, so you can see who viewed your information in your visibility dashboard;let you withdraw consent at any time, which stops future access (information already accessed by a sponsor before withdrawal is outside our control).

5.3 Is this a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information?

We do not sell your personal information for money. Because access by sponsors occurs only at your direction and with your opt-in consent, we treat these disclosures as made at your request. Some U.S. state laws define "sale" and "sharing" broadly, so we also give you the controls described in Section 10 to opt out of any sale or sharing.

6. Automated Processing and AI Features

Some Platform features use automated processing, including AI: Candidate insights – we may generate suggestions to help you improve your profile or resume, or identify skill gaps. These are recommendations only; you decide whether to act on them. Employer lead scoring – we may score employer and sponsor accounts to prioritize outreach for our team. This scoring is based only on buying-intent signals (such as engagement with sponsorship and recruiting features). It does not score individual community members and never uses your demographic information.We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing without a lawful basis and appropriate safeguards. Where you have rights regarding automated decision-making, see Section 9. You can contact us to ask about, or object to, automated processing that affects you.

7. When and With Whom We Share Information

We share personal information only as described in this Policy: Service providers / processors – vendors that host our Platform, process payments, send email, provide analytics, or otherwise support our operations, under contracts that limit their use of the information to providing services to us. Employers and sponsors – as described in Section 5, and only consistent with your settings and consent.At your direction – when you ask us to share information, or when you post it to a public area of our services. Legal and safety – to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Accel AI, our community, or others. Business transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of assets, subject to this Policy. Aggregated or de-identified information – which does not identify you, without restriction.We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate our services, remember your preferences, measure performance, and understand usage. We use:Strictly necessary cookies – required for the site and Platform to function (for example, to keep you logged in).Preference cookies – to remember your settings. Analytics cookies – to understand how our services are used so we can improve them.Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your choices at any time through our cookie banner or settings. You can also control cookies through your browser. We honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law.We do not run an interest-based / behavioral advertising program.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:access the information we hold about you, and request a copy;correct inaccurate or incomplete information;delete your information (subject to legal exceptions);port your information to another service, where applicable;object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting prior processing;opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and limit the use of sensitive personal information;appeal a decision we make about your request, where the law provides an appeal right;be free from discrimination for exercising your rights.You can exercise many of these rights directly in your account settings. Otherwise, contact us using the details in Section 16. We will verify your identity before acting and will respond within the timeframe required by law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.

9.1 EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the rights above under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We rely on the legal bases set out in Section 3.1 and the transfer mechanisms in Section 11.

9.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale/sharing, and limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2 (identifiers; profile, professional, and education information; resume content; commercial/transaction information; internet and usage activity; approximate location; and, with consent, sensitive information such as race or ethnicity). We disclose information to the categories of recipients in Section 7. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration; for opt-out of any "sale"/"sharing" as those terms are defined by California law, see Section 10.

9.3 Other U.S. states

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others as they take effect — have similar rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. To exercise these rights, or to appeal a decision, contact us as described in Section 16.

10. Your Choices: Marketing, Sale/Sharing, and Sensitive Information

Marketing – you can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each message, or by contacting us. We may still send you essential service messages about your account and transactions.Text messages – if you have opted in to texts, reply STOP to opt out.Sale / sharing opt-out – to the extent any disclosure qualifies as a "sale" or "sharing" under applicable law, you can opt out by emailing privacy@accel.ai, and we honor the Global Privacy Control.Limit sensitive information – you can withdraw consent for demographic and other sensitive information at any time in your settings or by contacting us.

11. International Data Transfers

Accel AI is based in the United States, and our services are hosted there. If you access our services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), together with additional safeguards as needed.

Important update. The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield referenced in our prior policy was invalidated in 2020 and no longer provides a valid transfer mechanism. The current successor framework is the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and the UK Extension and Swiss-U.S. framework).

12. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and for the purposes described in this Policy, then delete or de-identify it.

Aggregated or de-identified data that no longer identifies you may be kept indefinitely.

13. How We Protect Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and limiting access to those who need it. CV Vault access is mediated by server-side controls that enforce sponsorship scope and record access logs.No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your login credentials confidential.

14. Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Where stronger protections apply (for example, consent requirements for teenagers under certain state laws), we follow those requirements.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last revised" date above and, if the changes are material, provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner or email). Your continued use of our services after an update means you acknowledge the revised Policy.
